Giudice faces reality of paying the government
Prison can’t be easy for Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, but paying the federal government could be just as painful.
In order to pay off the more than $400,000 she owes, the government seized:
- 2005 Maserati;
- Furnishings from her mansion;
- 25% of her future Bravo salary from the reality show;
- 50% of the income from rental property.
Ouch! Giudice is doing hard time in a Connecticut prison after pleading guilty to tax fraud. She’s halfway through her 15 month sentence. As soon as she’s out her husband goes in for 3 ½ years.
Blade Runner skips out of prison early
Those two reality stars probably wish they got the same treatment as Oscar Pistorius. The so-called “blade runner” is set to be released in August after serving only 10 months in prison of a 5 year stretch for manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius, the double amputee Olympic sprinter, is getting out to go on house arrest (in his uncle’s mansion) for good behavior.
But South African law has a strange twist. Once out, Pistorious could be sent back to prison. Prosecutors said they will seek a murder conviction and if found guilty Pistorious faces 15 years.
Caitlyn Jenner sued over deadly crash
And Caitlyn Jenner is facing a new lawsuit over the deadly car crash in Malibu. Jenner was involved in a multi-car collision in February along the Pacific Coast Highway. Jessica Steindorff, the driver of one of the cars Jenner hit is suing for personal injury and property damages.
The stepchildren of the woman who died in the crash sued Jenner earlier this year claiming negligence.
Jenner has not been charged. And here’s the twist, Steindorff had no liability insurance and under California law that will greatly limit the amount of damages she could recover.
