Jared Fogle’s Guilty Plea
When Jared Fogle walked out of federal court it marked a swift and decisive downfall for the well-known spokesman for Subway sandwich shops. Fogle plead guilty to child porn charges. This included paying for sex with minors and distributing and receiving child porn with the former director of his foundation Russell Taylor. Fogle faces 5 to 12 years in prison, will pay $1.4million in restitution to victims, and will register as a sex offender.
The interesting part of this is the plea. This appears to me to be a deal that’s been in the works. Federal plea bargains are driven by a person’s willingness to provide information on other cases, so I suspect this means he’s cooperating in the case against Russell Taylor.
Bounty Hunters
Bounty hunters and sheriff’s deputies surprised the former star of the hit TV program Scandal, Columbus Short, at his album launch party. It was quite a scene. The bounty hunters sprang on Short and cuffed him in front of friends and family in Los Angeles. It was one of those life imitating art moments that seem to only happen in Hollywood.
How did Short wind up in cuffs? He reportedly did not show up in court on a domestic violence case, so the judge issued an arrest warrant for failure to appear.
Short was out on $500,000 bail so when he didn’t show, the bail bond company took action and sent bounty hunters to find him. With his capture, the bail company saves a lot of money and the bounty hunters will receive a piece of that.
